Thanks to its ease of use and the convenience it provides, a microwave oven has become an indispensable appliance in any kitchen. The following information may help you buy the best microwave oven suited to your budget and needs.
What to look for in a microwave oven
When considering what microwave oven to buy, the most important things to keep in mind are (1) what you will use the microwave oven for and (2) where you will place it. Basic functions of a microwave are reheating meals, defrosting, heating water, and melting products such as butter or cheese. If this is all you need, a standard microwave will suffice. Extra features may cost more and you may never use them. However, if you will use your microwave oven to cook most of your meals, consider models with additional features that will ease your food preparation. Some microwave ovens have a speedcook feature, making cooking large entrees much faster. Others may have grilling and roasting options. Many microwaves have preset cooking and defrosting times programmed into their menu, taking the guesswork out of using your microwave oven. Also think about the size of the meals you will be cooking in your oven, and select the size of your microwave accordingly.
Most people opt to place their microwave on a counter or other available flat surface. Countertop models are very affordable and require no installation, making them very popular. Over-the-range (OTR) models are built into a special cabinet over your cooking stove, which frees up more space. OTR microwave ovens also come with more features than countertop models. However, they are also more expensive.
Top brands that offer microwave ovens
The brands that command the largest market share are GE and Sharp. They offer a wide range of models, with basic microwave ovens costing as low as $60. Higher-end countertop models may cost up to $800. Over-the-counter models may set you back $1,000. Other quality brands in the market are LG, Panasonic, Kenmore, Whirlpool, and Frigidaire.
With the wide selection of microwave ovens available, you will easily find the best microwave oven for your household.

For a heavy cooking job, Panasonic NNA873S microwave oven is perfect for you. This complete cooking partner makes Panasonic a leading manufacturing of microwave ovens. If you wish to improve your food business, or want to prepare a superb dinner for the family, consider this combination microwave oven to prepare your delicious menus fast. There are several powerful features that make this oven a real useful appliance. However, it is so powerful that defrosting and reheating of food are just very easy tasks to do. So, if you're planning to buy a microwave just for quick defrosting or reheating, you may consider other Panasonic brands for this purpose. It is because NNA873S is a multi-function microwave that cooking a delicious recipe is not a hard microwave task. It does "more than" defrosting of cold food or reheating a corn soup. It can also grill, roast, or cook a delicious recipe.
What makes this powerful microwave oven unique is its capacity. It's totally a complete cooking partner. If you have a limited space in the kitchen, this appliance is perfect for you. Its stylish exterior and the complete interior make this oven a powerful kitchen appliance. However, although it is almost perfect, this product has several buttons to use for controls. Yet, it's not a demerit, though.

You can rest assured that when your kitchen appliance carries the name Kenmore, reliability is guaranteed. Kenmore's 61584 microwave oven is no different. It has capacity, power and contains features that will make you a satisfied experimental cook for many years to come.
One of the best features of the Kenmore Microwave Oven 61584 is the sensor cooking. With the sensor cooking, the food will not be overcooked and there will be no uneven cooking. The sensor detects the humidity inside the oven that is created when the moisture from the food is thrown off. Once enough humidity is picked up, the oven stops cooking automatically so what you have is food cooked perfectly. The oven's control panel is beautifully laid out as well. The prompts are displayed clearly in the LED display.
However, as beautiful as the Kenmore Microwave Oven 61584 is it does have a few flaws. The only complaint I have for this oven is the defrost button. Sometimes it produces bad results; the food is thawed unevenly. I once tried to defrost a frozen can of beans. After it was done, I found some chunks were frozen next to a steaming pile of beans. It was not after I stirred the whole thing that it started to get even. It was not a big of a deal and aside from that, I didn't find anything wrong with this oven. I found that the Kenmore Microwave Oven 61584 is reliable, user-friendly and has produced more great results than bad ones.

Most households have microwave ovens in their kitchens. Like the broiler on stoves, microwave ovens utilize a type of energy called electromagnetic radiation that causes the molecules of the food being coked to move in rapid movement, thus heat is created. Such electromagnetic energy is absorbed by the food's water, fat, and sugar content. But, the microwave industry has been constantly faced with a speculation that the food cooked in this kind of oven can cause cancer.
While high-energy forms of EM radiation, such as x-rays, can cause cancer, infrared and microwave radiation can't, because they simply don't pack enough power to damage your DNA. This was the explanation made by Gary Zeman, ScD, a certified health physicist in Berkeley, California, and spokesman for the Health Physics Society. Although, Zeman also notes that all electrical devices, including microwaves, do cause some electromagnetic fields.
Fortunately, after much debate and further research, no strong link has been found between one's health and the radiation emanating from microwaves. Nor do microwaves make food radioactive, change its protein structure, or contaminate it in any way, Zeman says. Once microwave radiation is absorbed by your leftover meat loaf, it is transformed into heat.

The microwave is a home or office appliance that is used daily or regularly. Yet, people too often utilize it with such frequency that they tend to overlook its importance. The microwave was made not only for convenience, but also for saving more time. However, how many really have the skill and knowledge to make the most out of this small appliance?
There are several things you can do in order to save your time while using the oven. First, avoid punching unnecessarily the keys. Instead, types the digits in order to save time plus to prevent the keypad from being damaged. Second, learn to duplicate similar digit. For instance, if you are supposed to heat 100 seconds, you can type 9-9 instead. You will not really miss the extra second and this will save you time. Third, if your oven is equipped with a turntable, then you must master its rotation period. Fourth and last is to do multi-tasking while waiting for your food to be heated. Too often, people stand and wait for a long time in front of the microwave oven as they heat several items of food. Yet instead remaining idle for a few minutes, why not do another worthwhile task as you wait? For sure, there are other more important things waiting to be done.
